Overview

From the A24 up to Ashtead Common

Ashtead sits between Epsom and Leatherhead on the A24, with its own station on the Southern network running to London Victoria via Sutton, Waterloo via Wimbledon, and south to Dorking and Guildford. The village splits into two characters: The Village, the historic core up around St Giles' Church, which dates from around 1115, and Lower Ashtead down towards Barnett Wood Lane and the station.

What defines the area geographically is the land around it. Ashtead Common is 450 acres of ancient woodland owned by the City of London Corporation, Ashtead Park is a 54-hectare local nature reserve wrapped around the eighteenth-century Ashtead Park House, now the City of London Freemen's School, and Ashtead Rye Meadows sits to the north.

The driving mix is distinctive. Fast A24 traffic along one edge, the M25 a short run away, then quiet lanes that narrow quickly as you head towards the Common, several of them unlit and bordered by trees. We cover all of KT21, typically arriving in twenty to thirty minutes, and we work around the clock.

Local causes

Why tyres fail in Ashtead

Ancient woodland on one side, a fast A road on the other.

Debris from the Common and Park lanes

Tree-lined edges shed flint and branch debris after wind or rain.

A24 and M25 approach blowouts

Sustained A24 speed is where a marginal tyre finally lets go.

Kerbing on narrow tree-lined lanes

Woodfield and Agates Lane are tight, and passing puts wheels into kerbs.

Unlit lanes at night

Much of the Common-side network is unlit, which makes a flat worse.

What Ashtead customers say

4.7 Rated 4.7 out of 5 by customers across Epsom and Surrey
★★★★★

Blowout on the A24 heading towards Leatherhead. Rang them from the verge and they were with me in twenty five minutes with the right tyre on board.

Raj S.Lower Ashtead
★★★★★

Second car had barely moved in years. They checked the date codes and explained why four tyres with plenty of tread still needed doing.

Emma L.Ashtead Village
★★★★☆

Puncture on a dark lane near the Common. Proper lights, proper equipment, done properly.

Questions

Mobile tyre fitting in Ashtead: frequently asked questions

What Ashtead customers ask us before booking.

Do you cover all of Ashtead?

Yes, all of KT21.

Can you come out to a breakdown on the A24 near Ashtead?

Yes, twenty four hours a day.

My car has plenty of tread but it is old. Should I replace the tyres?

Very possibly, and this is a common situation in Ashtead where second cars cover low mileage.

Do you work on the lanes near Ashtead Common at night?

Yes. Much of that network is unlit and tree-lined, so our vans carry proper work lighting.

How far is your coverage from Epsom to Ashtead?

Ashtead is roughly three miles from Epsom down the A24 and is well inside our standard coverage, priced the same as Epsom itself. We also reach the Leatherhead boundary on the far side.

Can you fit tyres at the Ashtead station car park?

Yes. If you have found a flat on returning from London, we can come to the station car park or the surrounding streets.
