We come to you
Driveway, office car park or the hard shoulder of the A24. Wherever the car stopped.
The step most mobile fitters skip
A wheel balancer lives in our van, and every tyre we fit gets spun on it. If your steering shakes at motorway speed, this is almost always the cure.

Overview
A wheel and tyre assembly is never perfectly even. The tyre has a heavy point from its manufacture, the rim has its own, and the valve and sensor add weight in one place. At walking pace none of it matters.
The visible symptom is a wobble that appears in a specific speed band, often between 50 and 70mph, and frequently disappears again above it. The invisible cost is worse: an out-of-balance wheel scrubs the tread in patches, which is where cupping and feathering come from, and it puts repeated shock loads into the wheel bearings, the track rod ends and the suspension bushes.
Balancing corrects it by finding the heavy point and adding counterweight opposite. We use clip-on weights on steel rims and adhesive weights hidden on the inner barrel of alloys, so nothing is visible on a diamond-cut or painted face.

What's included
Done properly, on site, with the wheel off the car.
Off the car, so buckles, cracks and lost weights show up first.
The balancer reads the imbalance in grams, inner and outer plane.
Clip-on for steel, hidden adhesive on the barrel for alloys.
Checked again after weighting.
Back on with a calibrated torque wrench to the vehicle's specified figure.
Vibration is not always balance.
Step by step
Balance is the most common cause, but we check that it is the cause before charging for the cure.
Does it shake through the steering wheel or the seat?
Missing weights, kerb damage, buckled rims and cupped wear all show here.
Measured inner and outer plane, with the before and after recorded.
Corrected, re-spun and confirmed clean before the wheel goes back on and is torqued to the vehicle's figure.
When to call
Where it shakes, and when, narrows down the cause considerably.
Usually a front wheel out of balance.
Points at a rear wheel.
Not balance.
An impact can throw a weight off or bend the rim itself.
Cost and detail
Some of these are obvious.
Scope
Car and light commercial wheels up to 22 inches.
Why us
It is heavy and awkward, which is exactly why some mobile operators leave it out.
Balanced on every tyre we fit, already inside the quoted price.
Bearings, track rod ends and bushes all take repeated shock loads from an unbalanced wheel.
Even wear across the tread is worth real money over the life of a set.
Brake judder and a bent rim feel identical, and weights fix neither.
Hidden inside the barrel, so a diamond-cut face stays clean.
Where we work
We carry out wheel balancing throughout Epsom and the surrounding areas.
Questions
Straight answers to what customers ask before booking.
Balancing corrects the weight distribution of the wheel and tyre assembly so it spins smoothly, and it cures vibration.
Alignment needs a fixed four-wheel alignment rig and a level floor, so it is not something that can be done properly at the roadside.
Always when a tyre is fitted or repaired, after any significant pothole or kerb impact, when you swap between summer and winter wheels, and roughly every 10,000 miles as a routine check.
No, not properly. Off-car balancing on a dedicated balancer measures both the inner and outer planes and is the accepted method.
If the wobble appears in a speed band and is felt through the steering wheel, balance is the most likely cause and balancing usually cures it.
No. They are applied to the clean inner barrel of the rim, out of sight, with a tape designed for the job.

Yes, always, on every wheel, in the quoted price. It is not an optional extra and we do not charge for it separately.
